    1. Yes, it's been closed since 2011. Thanks! Got some more posts typed up last night, going to try and get them published tonight.

  2. Okay, I know this was wordless Wednesday, but where is Prairie, and how could Mississippi have one with all these trees and hills and beaches? :)

    1. Prairie is about 20 minutes north of West Point. You have to turn off 45 and drive about 5 miles or so. There used to be more there but it's fading fast.

If you'll Google Mississippi black prairie you should see a map of it. Noxubee county is located smack dab in the middle of it. I'm a hill raised girl myself, so it's kinda weird to me. I miss my hills and trees on a regular basis.

    2. Just goes to show you should never assume--who knew Mississippi had a prairie!

  3. Oh, my goodness--I looked up the Mississippi prairie and learned all about the Black Prairie, and unfortunately, its endangered status.

    1. Yes it's sad. There's not much you can do with it but farm. I've always told people the prairie is much like the delta. An endangered place that's fading fast and doesn't have the romanticism and tourism to sustain it.
