Traveling Preparations
We're going out of town for Thanksgiving, me, my husband, my baby girl, my Mom, and my Dad. Just a quick get away for us that we've never done before. I'm excited because I haven't been on a family trip with both of my parents since I was 17 and we've never been on a family trip with all of us since we got married. My husband suggested it and I am so happy to get to spend some quality time with my little family. We all work so much, my husband drives a truck, and my Dad has been working nights for around 6 months or so. At least when I worked in the same town with Mom and Dad I saw them a little more but now it's definitely not nearly enough that I work in Columbus and they work in Starkville.
I'm doing my normal running around like a chicken with my head cut off, washing, packing, shopping, and taking the dogs to the vet to be boarded first thing in the morning. I'll also be making a flying trip to the farm in the morning to feed the horses one last time, give them their Thanksgiving treat of persimmons, and make sure all feet and legs are still attached. We're leaving after lunch so I'll definitely have to be rolling.
I'll be taking on a few projects as always. I love sitting and watching the beach and having something to do. There will probably be some of this....

I've been working on making some new cotton crochet dishtowels for my kitchen. They are great for washing dishes and drying off pots and pans. The ones I've made before are small, more for washing, and the ones I'm making now will be more for drying, wiping, and cleaning. And yes, according to my husband I'm a 90 year old granny.
And yes, in the grand tradition of every time I've gone on vacation in recent years, I need something new to wear. I've been dying to make a kimono style jacket, they are all the rage after all. And I found a beautiful navy and white floral print knit the other day that I hope looks as good in real life as it does in my head.
I'm using this New Look pattern that I bought a few years ago and am just now getting around to using. It's discontinued but I'm sure you can find copies floating around on ebay and Etsy. I'll be making some edits since this was not drafted for a knit and the construction will need to be tweaked just a little because of this. I'm hoping that if this comes out okay, I can make a couple more to wear this winter. My office is HOT in the winter so all I need it just a little cover-up to look seasonally appropriate.
I'm also hoping to work on some blog content so yall will stop being subjected to Instagram photos all the time. LOL
What are you working on today? Are you off from work? Are you traveling? Whatever it is you're doing I hope you're having a great day my lovelies!
have fun on on your trip and those little extra projects. there's really nothing so perfect like being on a trip and working with your hands at the same time. the mindless stitching and weaving is just so relaxing. have fun and happy thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThank you and happy thanksgiving to you too!
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving! To me Thanksgiving is all about family and that is what makes it special. And, I have also crocheted and knitted cotton dish clothes - they are wonderful and so easy to make! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm very excited to spend this time with my family and can't wait! It's been far too long. Happy thanksgiving to you!
DeleteI am cleaning out Rio's hay barn today, since I did not get to it yesterday. My dad said last night, "you don't have to do that." I said it made me happy. He smiled, and said,
ReplyDelete"Then it doesn't take much to make you happy if shoveling horse s*** will do it." Then I smiled. :)
Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy your trip with your family!
LOL! Believe it or not shoveling s**** is the thing I miss most about not having a barn. Happy thanksgiving to you and your family too!
