Compliments

Last week I had two very lovely compliments paid to me.

1.  I had a customer in my office and we were going over her paperwork and she just stopped for a minute, sat back, and said, "I just have to tell you, that you have the most beautiful complexion."

Picture me stunned and blushing for just a minute.  As someone that has struggled with my skin basically since I hit puberty and still have to use Noxzema twice a day and a toner, and an oil free moisturizer with salicylic acid, and oil free makeup, etc. that really made me sit back for a moment.  It was definitely the highlight of my day.

2.  I had to call our phone carrier and see if there was any way we could save a little money.   We had gone over everything, done a few changes, and at the end of the call she said, "It has been lovely talking to you today, you have a beautiful voice.  Have a great day!"  Now I'm sure that this lady in Florida talks to lots and lots and lots of people on a daily basis and maybe she tells them all they have a lovely voice but it was a nice pleasant little something to tell a customer.

I've always struggled with compliments as any sort of attention on myself tends to fluster me and make me stammer, and go spaz.  (Anyone that was in printmaking with me in college has first hand evidence of this.) But I'm doing better as I get older.

Always remember that the things you say really do make a difference with people.  The simplest thing could really brighten someone's day.  How do you handle compliments?  Have you said something nice to someone lately?  Let me know in the comments below!

Hope you are having a great day my lovelies!

  1. I think many people get accustomed, for whatever reasons, to dismissing compliments. I think the best "rule" is to just say thank you. :)
