Stories of the South - Okolona Confederate Cemetery Okolona, MS

The battle of Okolona recently observed it's 150th anniversary February 22-23.  They had a reenactment and living history displays that weekend and try as I might I just couldn't figure out a way to make a visit fit into my weekend.  Oh well, maybe next year...I say the same thing about Columbus Pilgrimage and still haven't been to it either.

Last fall on the way home from Tupelo my mom and I stopped and took a few pictures around Okolona.  I stopped at the cemetery in town on Church Street and took a few pictures of the Civil War markers and the small memorial that honors the dead both Confederate and Yankee.

    1. I've lived in Mississippi my whole life and am a 7th generation Mississippian. When my family came here from South Carolina they came to stay! So glad you enjoyed the post and I took a look at your blog too. My husband went pheasant hunting there this winter and I hope I can go next year. Thanks for stopping by!
