Rise to Thrive Charity Challenge

I usually like to do a Wordless Wednesday post, but I'm going to go off track this week because of an email I received from Wayne Andrews the director of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council & Powerhouse Community Arts Center.

The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council serves Lafayette County, Oxford, and the surrounding area and was selected by actor Edward Norton’s Crowdrise crowdsource funding site for the Rise to Thrive Challenge.  Don't know what that is?  I didn’t either and did a little research into this, as this was the first email I have received to help promote a project as a blogger.
(Thanks Wayne!)

Rise to Thrive is founded and funded by Russell Simmons, entrepreneur de jour who founded Def Jam Records, Phat Farm, movie production companies, television production companies, etc.  Rise to Thrive is his way of giving back to communities that are trying to improve themselves and the people that live there.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, and they are in competition with 90 other really deserving community organizations.  Whoever raises the most money will receive a $25,000 donation, second gets $10,000, third $5,000, and another $10,000 in cash and prizes will be given as well.  The campaign runs from:

September 17-September 24, 2013.

If you can help, please do!  Yoknapatawpha Arts Council was the only group selected from Mississippi and right now they are in 8th place!  If you can’t give, please pass the word along to your friends and neighbors.  If you want to read more about the Rise to Thrive Challenge click right here.  If you want to see what the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council is doing in its community please click here.  Every little bit helps!

Have a great day my lovelies!
