Wordless Wednesday - Brooksville, MS Civil War Monument


Civil War Monument of Brooksville, MS formally dedicated 09/14/1911

Inscription One: 
"In Memory of the Confederate Soldiers who died in the hospital at Brooksville, Mississippi after the Battle of Shiloh April 6, 1862 and were buried near this spot.  The manner of their death was the crowing glory of their lives.  

Inscription Two:  
Love's tribute to the noble men who marched near the flag of the starts and bars and were faithful to the end.

The hospital that is referred to in the statue stood until the 1980's.  The graves of the soldiers are according to town lore, beneath the walking track near the statue and beneath the statue itself.
